How Sightline Windows & Doors Came to Lauderdale Lakes
We opened this branch in 2012 because we kept hearing the same story from homeowners across Broward County. A couple in Lauderhill would tell us about a window company that measured in October, quoted in November, and installed in January at a price that had somehow grown by $2,000. A family near Oakland Park described a door replacement where the crew showed up with a frame that didn’t match the spec sheet they’d signed. The sales promise and the delivered job were two different documents.
Sonia Raman had spent years watching this happen. She was working in the trade, installing other companies’ products, and saw the gap between what got sold and what got built. The breaking point came on a job in Lauderdale Lakes, a 1970s ranch near the intersection of State Road 7 and Commercial Boulevard. The homeowner, a retired schoolteacher, had been quoted one price for impact-rated PGT windows. When the crew arrived, the invoice was higher, the glass was a different brand, and the installation schedule had been pushed twice. She called the company four times. Nobody returned her call. Sonia was on that crew. She finished the install, but she couldn’t shake the look on that woman’s face when she realized the paperwork she’d kept didn’t match what was happening in her living room.
That evening, Sonia called the national Sightline office. The brand had started the same year, founded by a glazier who believed the measurement and the quote should be the same document. Sonia wanted to bring that standard to Lauderdale Lakes. She signed the agreement in December 2012. Our first measured survey went out January 3rd, 2013. The customer kept the copy.
Sonia Raman’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade
Sonia didn’t grow up planning to measure sightlines. She fell into the work sideways, the way most people who stay in a trade seem to. In her early twenties, she took a job as a helper on a remodeling crew in Sunrise, mostly to pay rent while she figured out what came next. The lead installer was a tradesman who trained us, though we won’t name him here. He was impatient, exacting, and could install a pre-hung door in a out-of-square frame so precisely that the deadbolt clicked like a safe. Sonia watched him for six months before he let her hold the level.
What hooked her wasn’t the craftsmanship, though that mattered. It was the moment after the job, when a homeowner would walk through a new sliding door to their patio for the first time. The light changed. The room breathed differently. Sonia started noticing how people stood differently in spaces with proper glazing. She could predict which customers would cry, which would just nod slowly, which would run back inside to grab their phone and photograph the same view they’d had for fifteen years, now suddenly visible.
She’s been at this for over fourteen years now. The work still smells the same: silicone, aluminum shavings, the particular dust that comes from cutting old Florida stucco. Her hands know the weight of a Therma-Tru fiberglass door before she reads the stamp. If she weren’t doing this, she’d probably be teaching. She thinks about that sometimes, usually on drives between Plantation and Pompano Beach, when she’s passing schools at dismissal time. But she’s here instead, and what gets her out of bed is the knowledge that someone in Tamarac or Davie is about to open a new ViewLux picture window and see their backyard differently than they have in a decade.
The work means something personal because it’s permanent. You don’t get to hide a window installation. It’s there every morning. Sonia has driven past jobs from 2014 and found herself checking the caulking line from the street, still straight, still holding.
Meet Sonia Raman - The Person Behind Every Job

Sonia Raman is the Owner and Founder of Sightline Windows & Doors Lauderdale Lakes. She holds state licensure for residential window and door installation in Florida and has completed manufacturer-certified training on impact-rated systems, including PGT and Mr-Glass product lines. Before opening this branch, she spent years in the field as an installer and project lead, learning the trade from the rough opening outward.
What separates Sonia from a corporate franchise technician is simple: she’s the one who answers when something goes wrong. Not a regional manager. Not a customer service line. Her cell number is in the file of every job we’ve done since 2013. On weekends, she restores vintage bicycles, a hobby that requires the same patience she brings to aligning a warped frame in a Cooper City condo. She believes in owning the mistake before the customer finds it.
Her direct commitment to you: every measured survey we perform is a document you keep, and the price on that document is the price you pay. No exceptions. No “we found rot” surprise. That’s Haven Clause 1, and Sonia stamps it personally.
Before
AfterOur Promise to Lauderdale Lakes Homeowners
Our values aren’t decoration. They’re policies with dates and signatures.
Honest pricing. Haven Clause 1 requires a flat price, written scope, and written warranty before anyone starts. In 2019, a homeowner in Coral Springs showed us a competitor’s quote with a line item for “additional materials as needed.” We crossed it out on our version and wrote the actual number. They hired us. The invoice matched the quote exactly.
Quality parts. We specify the manufacturer, the series, and the performance grade in writing. When we recommend Therma-Tru for a coastal exposure, we explain the hydrostatic rating in the same sentence. You know what you’re buying because we document it.
Standing behind every job. Haven Clause 5 is “No surprises.” We’ve returned to adjust weatherstripping three years after install. We’ve replaced a lockset that failed under warranty without charging labor. The promise is only real if you test it.
Our Credentials

State-licensed. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires. For homeowners, this means permits pulled properly, inspections passed, and no liability gap if someone gets hurt on your property.
Insured & bonded. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation coverage. This protects your home and the people working in it. We provide certificate of insurance on request.
Years of local experience. We’ve been serving Broward County since 2013, with deep familiarity in Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, Oakland Park, Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Tamarac, Plantation, Pompano Beach, Davie, Coral Springs, Hollywood, and Cooper City. We know which neighborhoods have original 1960s aluminum windows, which developments used non-impact glass before the 2004 code changes, and where the HOA architectural review boards actually read the spec sheets.
Strong local reputation. Our business grows through referral and repeat customers. We don’t buy leads or use call centers. When you contact us, a live coordinator connects you with our local team, and Sonia reviews every measured survey before it goes out.
These credentials matter because window and door replacement is invasive work. Crews are in your home for hours, sometimes days. They’re cutting openings, carrying heavy units through living spaces, working with power tools near your family. You need more than a friendly salesperson. You need verified documentation that the people on your property are qualified, covered, and accountable to someone local.
Rooted in Lauderdale Lakes
Our office sits near the intersection where that 2012 breaking point happened, and we still drive past that retired schoolteacher’s house. She’s since referred two neighbors. We know the difference between the original Lauderdale Lakes subdivisions and the infill builds near the Sports Complex. We’ve worked on homes that back up to the Middle River and homes that face Commercial Boulevard, and we understand how the traffic noise and the salt air affect different glazing choices. This isn’t territory we cover. It’s the place where Sonia built a business, raised a family, and learned that the sightline - that visible edge of glass inside the frame - is what you’re actually paying for. The view, not the hardware.
